How can my child benefit from yoga?
Yoga teaches children to focus and make a body-mind connection. We teach
children to connect with nature and animals. We
learn anatomy, as we move our bodies. Yoga
builds self expression, self-esteem as well as
an opportunity to gain strength. Listening
skills can be honed through yoga and most
importantly, yoga teaches each child to respect
themselves and others.
What ages do you teach?
We begin teaching children as early as 4.Generally, children 4-6 yrs of
age can learn together, 6-8 yrs, 8-10 yrs and
10-12 yrs. There are certainly exceptions to
these suggested groups, and we can always modify
classes to suit individuals. Teens can learn
yoga together as well.
How long are the classes?
Classes are generally 45minutes, short enough to hold a child’s attention
and long enough to allow each child to engage in
the yoga experience! When we teach a birthday
party, we generally plan on at least 1 or 2
hours. We include games and other activities to
engage the children in, as well as yoga.
How many children can attend a class?
Generally as many as can safely and comfortably fit in the area we
practice in.
What types of yoga do you teach? How do you
teach?
We teach basic hatha yoga poses and breathing techniques. Sometimes we
move from pose to pose, and other times we hold
our poses. We flow into sun and moon
salutations, and other yoga flows as well. We
combine storytelling, music, poetry, games and
other activities in order to learn yoga!
Where do you teach yoga?
We travel to your home and teach in any comfortable place where the
children can enjoy their yoga, either inside or
outside depending upon the weather. We travel
within Oakland county and parts of Macomb county
as well. Cities include: Birmingham, Bloomfield
Hills, West Bloomfield, Franklin, Farmington,
Farmington Hills, Rochester, Troy, Sterling
Heights, Southfield, and Oak Park. If you reside
in another location, please
contact us to see
if we are able to travel there.
